...and we're IN LOVE! :-) Lol. My singing steadily progressed when I stopped chasing absolutes and embraced variety. The mechanics of singing are intricate. Coordination can happen quickly (or not, at times), yet conditioning is a process spanned over years. I consider it lifelong, since I want my voice to be pristine until I no longer produce sound. Yet, I stalled my progress because I wanted my daily routine to be unchanging. Why? It was easier to manage. I hoped that strategy would yield exponential success. THAT. DID. NOT. WORK. FOR. ME. There is a high probability that the 'unchanging strategy' won't work for you. As with most athletic professions, especially ones that require a high level of full body involvement (as singing does), a change in routine is expected...it's necessary. We like constants. I get it. But, to continue growing as vocalists, we must be open to variety. There are several ways to condition our voices: breath work, body work, vocal folds work, psyche work. Each of those categories are umbrellas with various options underneath. Whew', 'chile, it can feel endless...and that can seem scary af. But if we embrace variety despite the fear or threat of being overwhelmed, our voices will steadily grow. Work with a vocal teacher (LIKE ME) who will guide you through the various ways of building and sustaining a voice you desire. Be in love with variety ;-)
